I just recently paid attention to the words of this song. I love all types of music, it’s the emotion that the song invokes that makes it a song that I will enjoy. I haven’t yet seen the movie “The Bucket List” but I am certainly looking forward to it now.
I have said little of what I need to say it seems. I think this is true of many people in the world.
I do a lot of thinking. I can’t seem to shut my mind off lately more so than normal. I begin thinking where are we headed as a civilization? Can we continue on our current path and hope to be alive in the year 2525?
I got into reading about the Singularity recently. Which I got to by reading the Meaning of Life FAQ by Eliezer S. Yudkowsky. It got my mind to thinking even more on the future of the human race. Why are we really here? What’s the master plan if there is one.
Couldn’t we already be a race of super computers which appear as organic lifeforms? Lots to think about, and I have not yet gotten my thoughts together on them all, but I thought I’d give some link love to what I am reading and thinking about lately.
While it’s a little girly for a fruit, I’m a strawberry.
You Are a Strawberry
You are friendly, outgoing, and well liked by many people.
You are popular, but there’s nothing you ordinary or average about you.
You a very interesting person, and you have many facets to your personality.
Sometimes you feel very conflicted. Your different sides of your personality pull at you.
You are a very sensual and passionate person. You are fiery… you can’t help it.
In general, you keep your passionate side under wraps. You are only wild in private.
While no one but the writer of this song knows it’s true meaning. I feel this song is about doing what YOU can to help someone in need, whether they be addicted to drugs, down on their luck, in a bad relationship, just being there for someone when they need it most. I love this song and thought I’d post saying so. I sing to it every time it comes on, I am no American Idol, but I like to think I do a decent job (queue the laughter) Enjoy the song!
Listened to this song tonight, and it gets a musical soul to thinking…
I’m by no means old, having just turned 35, with only a few grey’s. But I do wonder, that when I’m gone, will people besides my immediate family remember me. Will my family remember me? How will they remember me?
Questions I ask myself at times:
Did I brighten the world a little in my time here?
Did someone find strength in my smile?
Did I help anyone during my trips around the sun?
Have I spent my time here wisely, or waste too much time on nonsense?
Honestly, those questions are hard to answer. Most will never be answered. I do realize that we all only have one shot, and one life. It’s yours, not anyone elses. Enjoy it, and waste your time as you best see fit.
On a side note, looking for an inspirational quote I saw once about what it means “to have lived”, I found a blog entry on boingboing, showing some photos of people that were born in the 19th Century and are still alive in 21st. You do the math on that one. I wonder in 3 centuries have they lived, do they know the answers to my questions above?
This is a song by Five for Fighting, as well as a website. Below are a couple variations of the song, one with just the words, one with different images.
